Description: Another video interaction site, this one differs in that it is created to engage students in anonymous online discussions about videos (or songs, articles, documents, etc.). After reading an introduction and viewing a video, students respond to an open-ended prompt. Once students have responded, they can then see classmates' responses and respond to those in turn. It's all completely anonymous, except that the teacher does have a record of which students write which comments. As students interact, they can comment on the comments, and even vote comments up that they like. The teacher can also interject comments, although his/her identity is openly revealed.

The following video shows how a "flip" is created. Notice that the question or prompt you want students to address must be included in the instructions.

Notes and Caveats:

 

  • The word "flip" does refer to the flipped classroom, in which student receive content, often via videos, before class, so that more class time can be spent in discuss and interaction with peers. Just be certain that all students have equal access to Internet connected devices at home if you choose to follow this model.
