Padlet

Page history last edited by Keith Schoch 9 years, 1 month ago

Resource Name: Padlet

URL: https://padlet.com

Uses: Brainstorm and Organize, Survey and Poll, Quiz Quickly, Construct Meaning, Write Together, Read and Respond, Watch and React

Teacher Time Investment: II IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

   Student Learning Curve: II IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Description: Padlet is the easiest to use online bulletin board. Period. That's because requires neither the board maker nor the board posters to register in any way. This allows for incredibly quick postings of ideas.

Some time will need to be invested showing students what they can and can't post, but even that's a fairly easy process. Any issues you might encounter can be cleared up quickly using the site help articles.

Better yet, check out the video below by master tech teacher Richard Byrne. It demonstrates how you can use the features at the site to improve the very basic wall that is offered as a default when you choose to create a padlet. Especially helpful: how to change the wall's URL address (to something you'll actually recall) and how to password protect it (so a wandering web user who stumbles upon it can't defile it). This video is part of a series about using back channels in the classroom (he also addresses Today's Meet and Socrative, but the Socrative information is outdated).

Sample Applications for the Classroom: See Wallwisher and LinoIt

Notes and Caveats:

  • If you didn't watch the video, watch it. Shows how cool and versatile the site can be, and it demonstrates how to protect it.
