ClassFlow

Page history last edited by Keith Schoch 9 years, 1 month ago

Resource Name: ClassFlow

URL: https://classflow.com

Uses: Survey and Poll, Quiz Quickly, Construct Meaning, Read and Respond, Watch and React

Teacher Time Investment: IIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIII

   Student Learning Curve: III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Description: ClassFlow is an instructional delivery system. To execute it well requires a fair time investment, so don't try pulling off this one as students are walking in the door. Teachers create "cards" which they can push out to students, and then receive in return once students have completed the assigned task. The cards can contain images, questions, and even websites, which keeps stidents contained to the site rather than wandering the web freely. (If have to admit that I wasn't successful in loading all websites that I wanted to preview, so you'll need to test this out as well).

Question types on assessments (which are different from lessons) include multiple choice, true/false, sort, Likert scale, number, short text, long text, math formula, and creative response.

The site is very clean looking from the student's perspective, and seems to be meant for direct instruction and direct (immediate) assessment. ClassFlow has lots of how-to videos on its YouTube channel to assist users in navigating the site and developing great lessons and assessments.

See the video below for a basic understanding of this site.

The video below explains creation of a sample lesson.

Sample Applications for the Classroom:

  • Create short assessments to be launched mid-lesson; ClassFlow is especially useful in this regard as teachers can "push" content out to students with just one click.
  • Check out ClassFlow's Resource Library which is packed with images (see pic to the right) and other goodies to inspire you as you create your lessons.
  • Once you're signed up, you'll see under the Lessons tab that the community of users has uploaded over 1000 lessons that are free to be copied and customized. No need to reinvent the wheel!
  • By making an assessment and copying it, you can easily differentiate for the diverse needs of learners within your class.

Notes and Caveats:

  • Some experimentation is needed to determine exactly what type of content can be placed on "cards" and shared out to students. Also, be careful not to confuse lessons with assessments; only the latter can contain the question types mentioned above.
